New browser from Japan, coming through!

Morning guys!, as I write this blog post at 8 AM while heating my water to drink my coffee let me introduce you to my new browser! (probably).

Guys, meet japanese technology that doesn't liveo n 2005, FLOORP

Aight let's see it feature

As it says on the landing page it have no user tracking and open source the rest are not so important to me, lets deep further.

What I like about this is a dual sidebar feature, that's what I love the most for my current browser (arc), btw recently I have asking myself a question why should I use browser that need to login and use chromium engine? so I decided to try other browser than arc and I found floorp at reddit post last night.

Enough chit-chat let see the privacy policy before we download the apps

I can't japanese at all but Deepl translate has helped me to understand the privacy policy of floorp also to summarize the text

It says it will collect minimal data and delete after short period of time, only share data if law require but not sharing with 3rd party, yeah... good enough to me for now.

Anddd first time boot it tells me the release note and privacy policy (again) ok that's nice, lets get though the onboarding process

It ask to import browser data which is nice but not to me cause I always fresh install any browser so I'll just skip it

It ask me for template, the diffrence between basic and default is only the right sidebar, while the advance has bottombar and also right sidebar, I'm not sure the advantage using advance so lets just use default for now

It now ask me browser design, while its not making much diffrent for each design but lets go with Laptop photon design cause it prettier to me,

Oh that's all for onboard process, now what interested me is the right sidebar

lets take a look

1. Something like toolbar manager, there's also bookmark, download, history and others.
2. It's bookmark, kinda pointless to be honest, it's just like number 1 with less effort.
3. History... Uhhh okay this is awkward.
4. Yep, its also part of feature number 1 but with less effort too, just like 2 and 3.
5. Alright, this is what should we talked about, it something like notes, Floorp notes actually for quick reminder to remember, oh and it also synchronized with floorp account.
6. It apps that can be embedded to, surely I will love this feature, I like to check message or scrolling twitter or just translate while watching youtube or something else, I just added deepl translation and it can run on mobile layouts, cool cool cool.
7. Extension, for quick access to extension you've just downloaded
8. Password manager, I will never use this cause I use bitwarden already

Alright, next I found floorp view, I think it works well If you use floorp or firefox on same account so You can open apps thats opened in desktop on mobile vice versa.

Or... You can share your current opened web pages with this feature, just scan it from your phone and it will ask to open the link, nice feature though it's not so useful to me

So it also support vertical tabs, for now I think it kinda weird and unnatural

Now I have added some of my most used social media like instagram and twitter, but only whatsapp that can not be normal, if only whatsapp can be used like normal mobile apps, it would be great

There's workspace feature that looks a lot like firefox container, so it such a waste

So here's the catch, I think floorp isn't recognized as latest firefox, and its kinda sad to can not use some of powerful extension like unhook, youtube enhancer and others

Summary

I might cancel to use floorp browser as it can not install some of firefox extension, it iritate me browser like orion can install both firefox and chrome while this firefox fork can not, so yeah I might stay with arc for a while now
