Claude code: Daily dev

For background, I got a client that ask me to create them an application to centralized their application authentication, just like what Meta did with facebook and instagram (You can login with same account).

There’s 3 collagues ask to join this project, 1 as business analyst 2 for developer, and im going to give them a try. Unfortunately for me, they’ve failed to achieve the target, 2 times, and the second time is the limit and I takeover the project to built in from scracth, writing deployment scripts configuring the environment and else in just 1 day.

Even though this is simple application, I need to having diffrent approach since I only have few days to complete this project Im trying Cline with openrouter a try cause it got so many model, on the first night I consume half of the credits I spent on openrouter I spent $12 or almost Rp. 200.000, and it‘s kinda bummer.

On the second day I know the limit is nearby so i just try the free version of every model I found, and I found that isn’t suitable for my flow so after few research I try warp terminal, from youtube reviews I found coupon code that giving me discounts $15 off, but after a few hours I found that unusable. Not even helping me with shell task, it can not code at all.

So my last attempt is claude code by antrophic, Long story short it giving the impression of “meh, the limit sucks!” Cause I’ve hit limit in less than an hour, but after I review the code and testing it for a few minutes I found the code is great but feel over-engineered and it making me hit the limit so fast.

Then after waiting for my 5 hours limit-reset I try another approach, I keep the task simple and constantly telling to not over engineered the code, even I build the agents too, I found it funny cause it feels like I’m the Project manager that giving them task and reviewing their code.

My Flow on using claude code

After researching to save some token so I can achieve my target in just few prompt, I try:

  1. Limit the task to 1 or 2
  2. Build agents as an expert like agents for coding, agents for code reviewer, agents for documennter
  3. Keep doing this and 1 week worth of coding can be done under in 1 days!

Yeah even my task are simple, build centralized authentiation. It still help me achieve that in just few days and it is impressive!

For whom?

Right now I recommend claude code for solo dev to ”HELP” not to replace the developer at all, cause I still found the code is not very clean, I have to manually review the code after every commit they’ve made and tweak just a little, but it is worth the $20? Absolutely.

I tested it in 3 project, 2 Golang projects are great, even it helps me improve my trash query logic, but it still lacks the flutter project even after I’ve used the context7 MCP server.

Summary

Are you code or solo dev? Get them.

Are you non coder want to build an app? Im would not recommend it, it will expose your API key or giving a security breach for you apps, probably.

It also can help you design architecture and half-replace the analyst, but im not sure it can replace the designer of UI/UX for now, I know I can jsut use v0.dev for web apps design, but still it isn’t recommend at all.
